As Japan continues to struggle with the aftermath of the recent earthquake, tsunami and nuclear disaster, our thoughts are with the Japanese people. However, we are equally concerned about the health and safety of our employees, our customers and any patient benefiting from a medical device containing our products.
Even though our Japanese suppliers are located in safe distance from the tsunami area and the resettlement zone, Fort Wayne Metals started implementing additional safety measures immediately after the earthquake: We have placed additional orders from sources outside Japan. And we have received certifications by the majority of our suppliers – regardless of their location – that their products are free from radioactive contamination.
As an additional precaution, Fort Wayne Metals has implemented radioactive testing of raw materials originating from Japan. Thus far, none of the materials tested have exhibited radioactive contamination. Therefore, we can state with confidence that the materials we supply have not been contaminated.
